statement
these images are the product of time spent having conversations around intimacy between myself and and my closest friend. we spoke about how our own intimate relationships had uniquely but mutually affected us in terms of trauma and resilience, and both resolved and unresolved pain. within sex and love, for both of us there have been choices we’ve made, and decisions that we have been made for us.
these conversations have pushed me to consider the role these relationships play in our lives, both consciously and subconsciously. to what extent would either of us be where we are today, if we had not been so significantly impacted by these chosen, or at times forced, connections? how much of who we are, and how we choose to be, is a reaction to these relationships, many of which have now come and gone?
but there is also the question of where we would be without each other. our lives, shared through experiences and words, have created a different type of intimacy, one been built with purpose. that bond has given me the curiosity and strength to continue to explore the impact of those that came before it.
one cannot exist without the other.
